What do you need to know about the Congolese biometric passport?

Where to get your passport?

The place of your passport application has no connection with your place of residence. You can make your application in any city equipped with a collection device (CD). In the provinces, you can go to the General Directorate of Migration (DGM).
You can also obtain it at the Embassy of the DRC closest to where you live.
Indeed, not all cities necessarily have a service dedicated to passports.

There are four categories of passports in the Democratic Republic of Congo:

  • The ordinary passport;
  • The diplomatic passport;
  • The service passport;
  • The pilgrim passport

Who is entitled to the DRC biometric passport?

The ordinary passport:

Any person of Congolese nationality is entitled to an ordinary passport.

The diplomatic passport:

Former Ministers of Regional and International Cooperation; 43. Presidents and Vice-Presidents of Citizen Institutions; 44. Career Ambassadors and retired Career Consuls General; 45. Honorary Consuls and their spouses; 46. Spouses and minor children of the personalities listed above.


Service passport:

The following are entitled to a service passport:
1. Secretaries General of Public Administration; 2. Members of the Bureau of Provincial Assemblies and Provincial Deputies; 3. Provincial Ministers; 4. Magistrates other than those referred to in Article 4; 5. Civil Servants and Agents of State Public Services; 6. members of ministerial cabinets in office; 7. members of the Boards of Directors and Management Committees of State Portfolio Enterprises; 8. members of the Offices of Citizen Institutions; 9. Congolese junior executives working within International Organizations; 10. members of Sports Federations, Athletes and Artists covered by a mission order from the supervising Ministry.


Pilgrim's passport:

Ministers of worship legally recognized in the Democratic Republic of Congo are entitled to a pilgrim's passport.

If you live in Kinshasa, we have qualified staff who can follow you throughout the process of obtaining your Congolese biometric passport from the registration of your file at the National Intelligence Agency (ANR Identification), until its withdrawal at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
